The Outsiders book review/reading responds

This week I finished the book The Outsiders. I have to say it is one of my favorite books alongside The Sixth sense Secrets from beyond: The Runaway. I give this book 9 out of 10 because it talks about a subject that can be very exciting and run to read about. In the city the boys lived in there was a war. The rich kids of the town and the pour kids of the town fought over territories like gangs. This book has a very realistic sense to it that makes you think it all actually happened and you are hearing it from one perspective. There were 2 different main perspectives that this author could write from but I think he chose the better one. This book has is written in 1st person. The book has many characters that are easy to like. Once you get through the beginning of the book, it suddenly becomes ten times more interesting and you would have a hard time setting the book down. When the characters get involved in a big conflict the story really starts taking shape. The book is interesting because the story often takes sharp turns and completely throws off your ideas of what might happen next. For example, when the main characters were hiding in a church, they cut and bleached their hair so the police could not recognize them. I expected them to stay in the church until the police would be called to more urgent cases.
Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone over the age of 9, because it has a fast paced storyline that keeps people interested. This book has themes that may be unsuitable for kids younger than nine, because it talks about violence, killing and gang fights with the occasional curse words.

Reading response

This week I continued reading the book. Warning, this post may be a spoiler and ruin the book for you. In this week’s reading the main character Pony boy and his best friend Jonny try to run away from their family. When they are running they go through a park and get stopped by a gang of rich kids. In the story there is a war between the rich and poor kids and they have nightly street fights. When Johnny and pony boy got stopped in the park they get in to a street fight with a gang of rich kids. The rich kids start to drown pony boy in a fountain and Johnny gets scared and stabs the rich kid who was drowning pony boy in the back. The gang gets scared and runs away. The boys didn’t know what to do so they go to a teen ager who they thought knew what to do. When they get to the house where he is staying they asked him what they should do. He gives them a gun, $50, and a jacket. He tells them to sneak on the train that will take them to Windrixville. He says when you get to Windrixville go in to the abandon church and buy food and bring it to the church. He also said to live at the church and he would go pick them up when the police forget about them.
I would have never have done any of this if I were in the story I would have talked to who ever I was mad at and never run away.
Stay tuned and I will have more next week
